Although not a major international tourist destination Salobreña is very well located, not just because of its privileged position on the coast and with a unique climate but it is centrally located on the Costa Tropical with easy access not just to three international airports (Malaga, Granada and Almeria) but also to a variety of interesting locations.

If you are wondering what to do on your holiday below is a list of some things to keep you busy. In the future further content and detail will be added to many of the attractions which can be enjoyed along the coast. – Where you see links click them to see the further information.

Firstly, Salobreña is a seaside town with many kilometers of beaches, various bars and restaurants and many visitors do not get much beyond the local attractions including Salobreña castle – which can be clearly see from the house.

Just along the coast within ten minute drive you will find the largest aquarium in Andalucia, the Lori Sexi Bird park, Roman ruins and archaelogical remains as well as a waterpark.

Local markets in all the coastal towns.

Up in the hills behind the neighbouring town of Almunecar there is the Peña Escrita natural park.

In Nerja just twenty minutes from the villa there are the famous caves which have become the third most important tourist attraction in Spain.

The town of Nerja is also interesting to visit after you have finished in the caves. In the hills behind Nerja there is the popular Andalucian village of Frigiliana.

Further West less than an hour from the house is the city of Malaga, not often visited but with museums, historic ruins, good shopping and with an updated and more cosmopolitan look it is worth having a look around.

Just beyond that is the Fuengirola zoo and two waterparks and beyond that the Selwo wildlife adventure park which was visited by Sasha Obama on her recent stay in Spain (2010).

Just forty minutes inland from the villa and coast is the city of Granada home to the famous Alhambra Palace, Spain’s second most visited tourist destination, also visited by the Obamas.

An hour from the house is the Sol y Nieve ski resort.

To the East of Salobrena is Almeria and the spaghetti western sets which are now a popular tourist attraction as well as Europe’s only desert.

Actual activities include balloon rides, historic tours, quad bikes and 4×4 safaris, paint balling, yacht hire, dingy sailing, windsurfing, paragliding, mountain biking, clubs, flamenco dancing, walking, painting, mountain biking and more…..
